Jeep Celebrates 30th Anniversary With Hybrid Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee celebrates 30 years of legendary performance and engineering excellence with the arrival of a 2023 special edition Anniversary SUV.

The first Grand Cherokee rolled off production lines in 1992. The 30th anniversary edition of Grand Cherokee commemorates three decades of fun, freedom and adventure. It combines 4xe electrification with off-roading capability.

Anniversary edition highlights include an all-black exterior with a modified front fascia, blue tow hooks, 20-inch gloss black wheels, a dual-pane sunroof, sill claddings, wheel flares and a grafted liftgate emblem.

"Three decades later and more than seven million Grand Cherokees sold, the most awarded SUV ever is still forging new ground with the electrified plug-in hybrid 4xe model," said Jim Morrison, Vice President at Jeep.

"The Grand Cherokee 4xe anniversary edition underscores how far the Grand Cherokee has come and is yet another example of the Jeep brand's goal to be the electrification leader in SUVs."

Under the Hood

The anniversary special edition represents the most technologically advanced and 4x4-capable Jeep Grand Cherokee ever built. It delivers 25 miles of all-electric range and 56 miles per gallon equivalent from a hybrid system which produces 375 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque and offers max towing capacity of 6,000 lbs.

The limited edition 2023 Grand Cherokee comes with three driving options for commuters, off-roaders and long-distance travelers.

Hybrid mode syncs the engine with electric motors to deliver up to 470 miles driving range. The eSave mode helps conserve battery life, and the electric-only option offers a range of 25 miles.

Comfort and Convenience

Jeep outfitted the anniversary edition with plenty of technology, comfort and cargo space.

Interior features include all-black Capri leather seats, a nine-speaker Alpine premium sound system, a 10-inch center touchscreen with Uconnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Auto Android connectivity, navigation with 3D graphics, rain-sensing windshield wipers and a wireless charging pad.

With back seats folded, the two-row model SUV offers an expansive 70.8 cubic feet of cargo space for travel luggage, golf bags and adventure gear.
