Dodge’s Jeep Grand Cherokee has been named the "Best Midsize Utility" vehicle for the second consecutive year at the 2024 MotorWeek Driver's Choice Awards.

The family SUV impressed with an exhilarating performance, multiple seating configurations and pioneering use of safety technologies.

"Jeep Grand Cherokee is our back-to-back winner as Best Midsize Utility of the Year,” said John Davis, founder of MotorWeek. “The fifth-generation Grand Cherokee arrived with all kinds of surprises, including an extended L version with three rows of seating and even an available 4xe plug-in powertrain.

“That PHEV Grand Cherokee adds serious breath to Jeep's substantial environmental posture. The Grand Cherokee makes a truly modern statement by all measures."

Grand Cherokee 4xe

The 4xe’s 2.0-liter delivers 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque power. Hybrid powertrain offers an all-electric range of 26 miles per charge and combined rating of 54 MPGe.

A proactive 4x4 system transfers 100 percent of available torque to a single rear wheel for seamless springtime excursions on dirt roads and muddy trails.

Nature lovers eager to explore lake areas can do so before summer crowds arrive. The 4xe’s water-sealed battery pack allows it to wade through 24 inches of water without risk of damage.

Springtime travelers can also select from three driving modes for exciting out-of-the-house experiences. Hybrid mode combines the engine and electric motor for additional acceleration and improved towing capacity in hilly or mountainous areas.

Electric mode lets road trippers visit locations within a 26 mile radius on a single charge. It allows them to save on gas and spend more money on food and fun. The 4xe transitions to eSave mode ensuring compliance with emission regulations in eco-friendly parks and nature reserves.

Grand Cherokee L

A class-exclusive 5.7-liter V-8 powertrain with 357 horsepower allows the SUV to attain a 60 mph speed in 6 seconds.

The Grand Cherokee L is 11.4 inches longer than its standard counterpart and offers a spacious cabin for seven passengers to stay comfortable on a road trip.

Maximum cargo space of 84.6 cubic feet ensures passengers travel with all essentials when on the road. A towing power of  7,200 pounds brings along a travel trailer with sleeping, cooking and storage facilities for a memorable adventure.

An available quad-zone automatic system offers individual cooling comfort in spring weather and eliminates a need to adjust controls.

The climate system prioritizes cooling specific areas of the Cherokee L instead of the entire cabin reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.

Six USB ports keep devices charged and make passengers stay entertained and engaged on journeys.

A rear-seat camera monitors kids, pets and precious cargo in the back row. Drivers can zoom in through the Uconnect5 touchscreen without taking their eyes off the road.

"To have MotorWeek recognize the Jeep Grand Cherokee as Best Midsize Utility for the second-straight year as part of its prestigious 2024 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards is especially rewarding as it gives third-party validation that we are delivering the best and most capable and most awarded SUV ever to our customers," said William Peffer, vice president of Jeep.

MotorWeek Driver's Choice Awards is organized by the television show "MotorWeek"  in recognition of the best new cars, trucks and SUVs across various categories.

Evaluations were based on driving performance, fuel efficiency, practicality, safety technology and overall appeal.
